Morocco – At the edge of the Sahara, the village of Bounou in southern Morocco is slowly being swallowed by desertification. Twelve-year-old Chourouk witnesses how drought, water scarcity and advancing sand are transforming daily life, threatening homes, livelihoods and an entire way of life. As the desert moves closer each year, the people of Bounou watch their fields, date palms and centuries-old traditions disappear beneath the sand. “I pray for a future in my village,” says Chourouk. But in Bounou, climate change is no longer a distant threat – it is already reshaping the future.
